Mississippi Medicine
Mississippi Medicine is a perfume study in dark woods, with an emphasis on cedar with smoky cade and birch tar. The fragrance is both unsettling and meditative, with a warm incense note that both softens and deepens the woodiness. From DS & Durga:
"Mississippi Medicine is based on what little is known about the rituals of a fast growing death cult that emerged in the southern part of the US in the 1200s. Called the South Eastern Ceremonial complex, it is more of a period within the Mississippian culture (the mound builders) when a specific system of religion quickly emerged. Other names for it were The Buzzard Cult and simply The Southern Death Cult. The cedar tree was sacred to them, representing an axis mundi (a gateway between the lower and upper worlds).
Mississippi Medicine is rich in cedar. Dry red Virginia cedar. Healthy doses of incense help marry the wood to the pine. Incense has been used in rituals since the dawn of time, which means we connect it to religious feeling in the depth of our bones.
The heart of MM is filled out with an accord of wild viola that could have grown by the mounds in Mississippi. Birch tar adds a primal smoke. It smells mysterious and ancient."

We are not responsible for lost or stolen packages. We will not provide replacements or refunds for lost or stolen packages. If you have a risk-prone address, we recommend you send to a safer locale.
First-time orders $125+ and all orders $200+ will be shipped with signature confirmation to ensure safe delivery. Customers may request "no signature confirmation" in the Order Note section of the Shopping Cart page, at their own risk. If the item is stolen after tracked delivery, the order cannot be refunded or replaced.
We cannot file claims for orders that have been designated as "delivered" by UPS or USPS. We can file claims for orders that have be designated as "lost in transit" by UPS or USPS.

Returns
We do not accept returns of perfumes, simply because perfumes can't be resold once they've been opened and used. We encourage you to order samples before purchasing full bottles of perfume. And here's the good news — with every sample purchased, we'll send you a coupon code that allows you to redeem the cost of the sample and sample shipping if you buy a full bottle of the fragrance you tried (in other words, you get $10 off).

Sample Orders
Samples are designed to help you evaluate scents you might want to later purchase as a full bottle. You may order one sample per fragrance, up to 15 total in a single order. Samples are non-refundable.
For sample orders, please check your packing slip for a special code that will allow you to redeem the price of samples and sample shipping when purchase full bottles of the scents you sample ($10 off full bottles).
Complimentary Samples
We provide complimentary samples with $75+ full bottle purchases. You may request up to 3 samples with any qualifying order. Please use the Order Note section on the Shopping Cart overlay to let us know which complimentary samples you would like. We'll try to provide the scents you've requested, but substitutions may occur if items are out of stock.
This one is fantastic. It’s an odd scent which at first smelled (to me at least) like the early bayou section of the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. Then you get more herbals—those shine through, with an almost menthol-like quality. I get the pine, frankincense, and some eucalyptus, balanced with wood and an earthy dirt scent. It’s a nice well rounded, earthy green.
If you’ve read the notes and are now looking at the reviews, then you already know what you’re in for. It’s grimy, dirty, and sharp. The dry down is much more soft and subtle, you’ll need to be a very particular person to rock this as a signature, I could see it layered with something softer/sweeter, overall not my style, but glad I got to take a dip in the Mississippi. Not as long lasting as you would expect considering how powerful the initial hit it.
