The legendary indie best seller Unknown Pleasures is a perfect gourmand perfume that reflects perfumer John Pegg's memories of walking down the chilly streets of London, listening to Joy Division, while sipping on a warm cup of London Fog. The fragrance opens up with the smooth flavor of Earl Grey tea with honey and a zing of lemon. The drydown softens into cozy vanilla, dreamy tonka bean and the signature waffle cone base. Sure to make any gourmand lover smile.

Lemon forward frosted donut

This is amazing. AH. MA. ZINGGG. It has a little cereal note, kinda like corn flakes, but very dreamy lemon and frosting on a donut. It smells a LOT or almost exactly like a lemon pound cake like others said. Any kind of lemon dessert you can imagine, it smells like it! Do you wanna be a walking lemon pie!? Get it.

Deliciously heavenly

I dint like citrus (especially lemon) forward notes so I wasn’t expecting to like this. Right away, all I smelled was lemon theraflu tea. More specifically, the powder, like right when you open the envelope and some powder floats out. That only lasted a few minutes because then the vanilla kicked in and it smelled like lemony frosting. The dry down was magical. The honey warmed it beautifully and now, I only smell a warm lemon loaf covered in a delicious vanilla glaze. This perfume is divine.

My Favorite Lemon So Far

I'm new to fragrances, but this is my favorite lemon scent so far. I put Unknown Pleasures up against Bake from Akro and Casamorati Lira from Xerjoff (blood orange, but I'd read it comes off as lemon).

Bake is good but it dries to vanilla too quickly for me. Lira was less appealing, and I lost the citrus within minutes of applying; it turned into too-sweet pastry on my skin.

For me, Unknown Pleasures smells the same for hours. I still smell it a bit even at the end of the day. It's more complex than the other two by far. No one's mentioned this in the reviews below, but the "walking down the street" part of the description comes through for me. I don't know what it is, but it's sharper and more pungent than just the bitterness of tea. It's almost a hint of gasoline.

I can usually pick out individual notes from fragrances, but this is blended so well that I can hardly tell the notes apart. It doesn't smell like a cup of London Fog sitting next to a lemon loaf, but more like if you blended the two together and put them in one cup. I've never smelled anything like it.

Mon Guerlain is my usual comfort scent, but this might take its place. It's not a safe blind buy, but it's absolutely worth sampling.
